During this module students will investigate key ideas from the Senior Years Science strands Earth and Space and Matter in the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework.
- applying, in creative ways, scientific principles and alternative technologies in mining, farming and conservation, and appraising the results in relation to the ways they contribute towards sustainable management of the earth

- appraising the place of science and scientists, along with social, cultural, gender, environmental, political and economic factors, in the management and equitable distribution of energy resources

- writing informed futures scenarios, for particular audiences, which identify possible future uses of mineral resources and their substitutes, and associated social costs and benefits for different groups of people.

- investigating and reporting on the properties of materials to classify substances into families (eg metal and non-metal, acids and bases), and relating this classification to their chemical structures
